Publishing News:

Michael Merriam sold the short story "Duel in the Moonlit Snow" to Gryphonwood Fantasy Magazine.

New Wyrd: A Wyrdsmiths Anthology (ed. by Bill Henry) is a 250-copy limited trade pb anthology of stories by members of this local writing group; inquiries to wyrdsmiths@gmail.com. Includes a reprint of "Big Black Mama and the Tentacle Man" by Eleanor Arnason and new stories by Lyda Morehouse ("Jawbone of an Ass"); Naomi Kritzer ("Masks"); Kelly McCullough ("The Basilisk Hunter"); Douglas Hulick ("An Inconvenient Corpse"); Sean M. Murphy ("Cloverleaf One"); Rosalind Nelson ("A Game of Beasts"); H. Courreges LeBlanc ("How Many Horses?"); and William G. Henry ("A Bird of Fire"). The same group published a similar anthology last year, which we missed listing: Tales From The Black Dog contains all of the above except Hulick (the McCullough and Kritzer stories in that one are reprints).

2006 Finalist list for Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature includes The Hallowed Hunt by Lois McMaster Bujold and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

Sinclair Lewis' It Can't Happen Here is a nominee in the "Hall of Fame" category for the 2005 Prometheus Awards (from the Libertarian Futurist Society).

Publishers Weekly reports Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys sold over 150,000 copies in 2005, per LOCUS.

A new hc Neil Gaiman collection, Fragile Things, is due in October from Morrow in the US and Hodder Headline in the UK. Hodder is also doing UK pb reprints/reissues of American Gods, Mirrormask, and Anansi Boys.

The reissue of Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett is #8 on the June Locus hc bestseller list; it's also #5 on the Barnes and Noble/B. Dalton and #6 on the Borders/Waldenbooks lists in same issue.

This year's Locus Award winners include Neil Gaiman, both for Anansi Boys (Best Fantasy Novel) and for "Sunbird" (Best Shorty Story) and Adam Stemple/Jane Yolen for Pay The Piper (Best Young Adult Book).
